News 2008

Our 10th anniversary is looming......

watch this space.

May's outdoor exercise was a lot of fun. However, the initial "recce" completed by Ralph failed to mention kneeling in sheep do! I know that I was doing really well until told that my positioning was not quite right, I knew where I could safely kneel, and you have guessed it a knee splodge. (Still was not as bad as vomit).

2004

Last year, Keith Reay and Chris Light raised a lot of money, Chris bravely got his head shave and Keith had his body waxed the event was held at the Wheatsheaf.

Money raised at the Outback in Cockermouth was divided between Cockermouth team and Broughton & Brigham team. Both we really good nights, thank you to everyone who donated.

Vodafone saga. After consultations etc etc. We have changed on to the digital network, Flex.

Lets hope this one has better and more consistent coverage. After 2 years we seem to be getting somewhere as far as the pagers are concerned. Apparently we were stuck with the old ones because we had to have "continuous call" and "repeat alerts" - all this was news to me, however now we have some super new ones instead of the "refurbished" old ones.

The new pagers are quite a piece of kit, when all we really need is a loud alert and an "on" switch. As it is impossible to please all the people all the time (they were tried out in various locations, agreements and a consultation exercise undertaken) this is the best we can do for now and the new pagers alert us faster (about 30-45 seconds faster) and do not repeat alert. These super new pagers are unnecessarily complicated though.
